Windham County History Fair
Historic Newfane Common, Route 30, Newfane
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The 2026 County History Fair will celebrate not only Windham County’s heritage, but the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence as well. Led by the 1947 Vermont State Police cruiser, old “Monty,” the Parade at 10:00 starts the event on the Historic Common in Newfane.
Historic Re-enactors will demonstrate musket firing, spy crafting and artillery. Exhibits by State and County Historical Societies and Museums (listed below); Blacksmithing, Bookbinding (bring your old books for an evaluation!), Genealogy (bring your questions about your family research!), Beekeeping, Telegraph Operating and Woodworking Demonstrations throughout the day; Tours of the County Courthouse and the old Newfane Cemetery, the County History Museum in the Old County Jail and the West River Railroad Museum; play in the Vermont Trivia Contest (prizes for the winners!); Vote for your favorite Antique car; Crafters, Music with Bills Band, Raffles, Crafters, Vernon Creamie Food Truck, and much more!
