Saturday, August 25 – The Old & New Village of Newfane

The Historical Society of Windham County joins the Windham Regional Woodlands Association at its annual meeting.  The program will begin at 8:30AM on the Old Newfane Common (top of Newfane Hill Road) with an introduction of the old Village of Newfane and a tour of its monuments (Laura Wallingford-Bacon), followed by County Forester Bill Guenther’s presentation on the small, but very sensitive timber sale done on the parcel in 2010.  Cider donuts and coffee provided.

At 9:45, the program will move down to Newfane Village in front of the County Courthouse where historic background information of the County Courthouse and the Common (Larry Robinson) will be followed by a discussion of the Common’s legacy tree maintenance (Bill Guenther).  E-mail info@historicalsocietyofwindhamcounty.org for further information or Contact Bill Guenther, County Forester, (257-7967, Ext. 302) for further information.
